What is OPTI Summer School?
‘With the OPTI Summer School concept, we have been offering young dentists in Germany a unique advanced training course since 2014, that not only familiarizes the participants with the most important - non-medical - areas of practice, but also promotes an exchange of ideas with colleagues in the same situations as well as with our experts in the respective fields.’ says Svend Neumann.
Born out of a simple idea, the OPTI Summer School is now one of the largest and longest dental start-up building events in Germany. On 5 seminar days, young dentists and practice owners who want to optimize their skills are being prepared for the future.
This year, the OPTI Summer School in Damp with around 100 participants in small groups, will work on 7 different subject areas in a workshop-like manner.
'We have an absolutely great feedback from our participants' says Mr. Neumann. 'It is important to us that the seminar is largely free of advertising, there are no sales and marketing activities from the first minute, but we only work on topics that are relevant for start-ups and will help them in the future. The participants are divided into small classes and the dynamic that arises in the workshops allows exciting hours of learning to fly by. Free time and networking are provided, the social program does not miss out on anything, together you can try wind- or kite surfing and end the evening after a nice BBQ’.
Setting up a business together with XO CARE
XO CARE is very happy to be a partner of the OPTI Summer School. For us at XO it is crucial to support young and aspiring dentists and therefore we were proud to be able to award 5 free, exclusive scholarships for the event in August 2020.
We look forward to an exciting and informative week together with the specialists from OPTI Health Consulting. In course of the training week we will be publishing interviews with the participants and sharing impressions from the event via XO's social media – follow us today to learn more.
COVID-19 and a new business start-up?
Mr. Neumann, who heads the investment and handover management for practices at OPTI health consulting, explained the following:
'As a company - dental practice is a rather crisis-proof business. If the numbers from the crisis years around 2009 were compared, it would be determined that e.g. only 81 bankruptcies from approximately 50,000 dental practices have occurred. If you compare this number with other companies e.g. In the craft sector, annual bankruptcy rates of 10% are not uncommon. The interest is very low and there are also repayment-free years, if the practice concept is in place, the location analysis and the marketing planning is up to date then I have no concern not to recommend every founder of a practice not to give up! In 30-40 years in your own practice, you will need to be prepared that different crises will occur.'
